SHEILA BEBE

AP Administrator at The Crossing Company

WHAT’S YOUR NAME AND ROLE, AND WHAT DIVISION DO YOU WORK UNDER AT THE CROSSING GROUP?

My name is Sheila Bebe, and I am the AP Administrator at The Crossing Company. I work with the finance team in the Nisku office and report directly to Adam Lysak, our Canadian controller.

WHERE DID YOU START AND WHAT HAS YOUR CAREER PATH BEEN LIKE AT THE CROSSING GROUP?

As the AP Administrator, I am responsible for processing all the payables for each of our Canadian divisions. That includes The Tunneling Company in Kamloops and Calgary offices, as well as the Light Rig Division in Grande Prairie and Taber offices and of course The Crossing Company located in Nisku Office. I have been with the company for 7 ½ years, with this being my 8th year.

I was originally hired to be the company’s Administrative Coordinator back in 2015 and not only had to learn about the dynamic office culture, but also the business background of pipeline construction. Since then, I have learned so much and am proud to have grown into my role of AP Administrator today.

WHAT’S THE MOST REWARDING (OR FAVOURITE) PART OF YOUR ROLE?

The most rewarding part of my role is delivering my best on each and every request sent my way. It’s always a pleasure to assist the rest of my team and take on new challenges.

The role of an AP Administrator can be difficult and mentally demanding, but I love that every single day is different and that I get to take on unexpected tasks. I find it’s most important to maintain my to-do list and keep a positive working relationship with the rest of the team to be successful.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT THE CROSSING GROUP?

My favourite part about working at The Crossing Group is the people. It’s incredibly motivating to work with great individuals who have a lot to bring to the table. I feel like each of our team members is effective in communicating their needs and being professional.

We have created a family here full of people who are incredibly welcoming and whom I’ve really been able to learn from over the past few years.

My favourite part about my role specifically is filing everything that has been accumulated over the year. At the start of each new year, it’s my job to ensure all payable-vendor files have their own folders. I also handle all the payables for the AP team and ensure each company is represented with its own folders.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE CULTURE AT THE CROSSING GROUP?

Working at The Crossing Company has been a wonderful experience. We have an excellent finance team that ensures each individual is aware of their duties and that we deliver great results to our stakeholders.

We have a great safety team who ensures each individual is aware of our safety processes on a daily basis and helps us to stay mindful of our environment and surroundings. We all learn to adapt and improve continuously and have employees who all practice mutual respect.

The Crossing Group also supports many charities and schools that assist individuals in their future endeavors.

The Crossing Group management has been a pleasure working with, they are very welcoming and accommodating with all my requests for the past 7 ½ years of working here.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE LOOKING TO WORK IN A ROLE SUCH AS YOURS AT THE CROSSING GROUP?

One piece of advice that I would give to someone looking to work in the accounting department is to be patient, focus and detail oriented, and have fun. As an AP Administrator, your role is not only focused on payables but many other factors as well. A great working attitude towards your team and vendors will always help to ensure your success.
