My Name is Peter Bik, and I am the Property and Equipment Manager at The Crossing Group.
WHERE DID YOU START AND WHAT HAS YOUR CAREER PATH BEEN LIKE AT THE CROSSING GROUP?
I have known Gerald, the VP of operations, for over 20 years. I previously worked as a Field Operations Manager for another company, and in Spring 2024, Gerald offered me the same position at The Crossing Group. Since being hired, my role has shifted toward managing our equipment in the LRD division. I also coordinated the transition to our new shop location last year.
WHAT’S THE MOST REWARDING (OR FAVOURITE) PART OF YOUR ROLE?
Working with my team is the greatest reward. They are all hardworking, and they make The Crossing Group a place I want to be.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT THE CROSSING GROUP?
I really appreciate the trust my team has in me. I know they always have my back, and I’m given the freedom to make decisions independently.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE CULTURE AT THE CROSSING GROUP?
Friendly, like a second family. On my first day at The Crossing Group, I remember that I was quite nervous. I didn't know what to expect, but the team was very encouraging and welcoming. That support at the start really helped me get going.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE LOOKING TO WORK IN A ROLE SUCH AS YOURS AT THE CROSSING GROUP?
Work hard, be honest, and be reliable. Show that you're willing to learn and take on new challenges. It takes years of experience, but stick with it long enough and you too can eventually get there.
