KRIS DOBBS

Assistant Controller for our US Operations Arizona Office

WHAT’S YOUR NAME AND ROLE, AND WHAT DIVISION DO YOU WORK UNDER AT THE CROSSING GROUP?

My name is Kris Dobbs (aka KD) and I am currently the Assistant Controller for our US Operations Arizona Office.

WHERE DID YOU START AND WHAT HAS YOUR CAREER PATH BEEN LIKE AT THE CROSSING GROUP?

I started with The HDD Company back when it originated in 1998. Before that, I was a stay at home mom, so I lacked experience and learned largely by trial and error. I worked to hone in on my knowledge of every aspect of the drilling business and build lasting relationships with people in the industry. This has allowed me to develop and earn the respect I have in my position today. Over the years, I have learned resilience, patience, and responsibility and that there is always a way to get it done.

WHAT’S THE MOST REWARDING (OR FAVOURITE) PART OF YOUR ROLE?

Life and this business have taught me that it takes a team to make things happen. As a result, I developed the ability to bond with those I work with, whether it be a peer, a contractor, a government entity, a vendor, or the guy that orders our checks. Finding those connections is my strength, and connecting with people is my favorite part of the job.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT WORKING AT THE CROSSING GROUP?

My favorite thing is definitely the people I work with. The HDD office has always been a tight group that enjoys being together and supporting one another.

As the Assistant Controller, my role is to support all projects. Knowing that I have enabled the teams to accomplish their goals in meeting time and budget constraints makes me feel like a valuable asset to all projects.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE LOOKING TO WORK IN A ROLE SUCH AS YOURS AT THE CROSSING GROUP?

As a cancer survivor, I received such strong and sustaining support that I vowed to pay it forward. My advice would be to always look for the human element. Everyone has a story that we may not know. Be patient, be kind. When you find that connection, it can help you to overcome a multitude of problems.
